Web-Hosting Trends. According to a recent IDC study, Web Hosting Services--Analyzing the Demand-Side View: 2001, 44% of U.S. companies stated they are hosting their Web sites with third parties. The majority of respondents that outsourced their Web hosting use their HSPs’ services for basic Web hosting only with monitoring. Reporting functions are the second most commonly used HSP service. However, the survey shows that enterprises are still uncomfortable with outsourcing their mission-critical applications.
