Shields Up!! Steve Gibson's site hosts two free tools that everyone--particluarly Windows users--should use to check for vulnerabilities to hackers. Select Shields Up!!, then run Test My Shields! and Probe My Ports!. And don't worry about using Steve's system to probe yours. He's been a trustworthy guy for many decades, developing great software and hardware.

CDNs in the Courts. "Cambridge, Mass.'s Akamai Technologies Inc. recently claimed victory in a year-old patent infringement case versus content delivery rival Digital Island Inc." [Source: Internet.com ] An earlier story suggested that patent 6,108,703 covers the use of "fingerprinting" technology to improve security and performance of content delivery networks. Akamai also won the dispute over patent 5,987,791. I'll have to check them out and report back.
