IDE for Secure Email. Identity-based encryption is a brilliantly simple scheme for generating a public key (of a matching public/private pair) from an arbitrary string. Voltage Security has applied IBE to email. The idea is that you can envrypt email to me using my email address as the public key. This means we can skip the pain-in-the-ass steps of my sending you my public key in advance, then verifying it out-of-band using a digital fingerprint. [Source: Scott Loftesness, Glenbrook Partners.]

Seventy-five percent of respondents cited integration, security, personalization (portals) and Web content management as the most common goals of their Web services projects.
