Let's Talk. (Mill Valley Film Festival) It was billed as being, "unlike any Indian film you've ever seen," and that's certainly the case. Far from the typical whacky musical, this is a starkly realistic and at times disturbing drama filmed in DV. The concept: A woman who is pregnant (but not by her husband) imagines seven scenarios that might play out when she tells her husband. It's a tour de force for Boman Irani, the actor in the role of the husband. There's occasional comic relief, but for the most part this is intense, believeable and remarkably western. We were taken by how much this couple's life is like that of an American couple's. No distributor yet, and it may not get one. But if it gets to a theatre near you, by all means see it.
