Insecurities. The news of Pilot Networks going out of business is old news indeed, but there's a good article in CIO Magazine that describes what some customers have considering in the wake of the failure.
...many CIOs are reevaluating two alternatives: outsourcing their security needs to a large, general services company such as IBM Global Services, or taking care of them in-house. The problem is that none of the three available options is the clear winner. Each carries significant risk, and former Pilot customers are trying them all. But all of them agree on one point. Outsourcing security is more work than just writing a check every month. It's a full-time job that requires in-house resources.

Exodus Exodus. This does not bode well. Exodus issued a press release yesterday announcing that three of their board members have resigned. Individual.com reports that the resignations were for personal reasons. But all at once?
The departing directors won't be replaced, but this isn't the usual board downsizing. Given the problems Exodus faces, they have more important things to worry about. I'm on a few boards myself, and believe me, this is an indication of a rift. If nothing else, however, at least they may have eliminated dissenters and now may be able to move forward with the task of getting the company on track. Only time will tell.
