Blogarithms

Doug Kaye's thoughts on web services, web hosting and managed services.

Ratios. According to the Web Hosting Industry Review's story regarding Exodus' bankruptcy filing, Exodus has 4,000 customers, 44 data centers and approximately 2,700 employees. My math says that's 0.68 employees per customer, 91 customers per data center and 61 employees per data center. I often look at ratios such as these when I compare vendors for my clients. They may not lead to direct conclusions, but it's often valuable to ask vendors why their ratios are higher or lower than those of their competitors. Read between the lines.
