AIDS. According to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) there are currently 36.1 million people living with HIV/AIDS. That's up roughly 5.3 million people, or an increase of nearly twenty percent. In the year 2000, roughly three million people died from AIDS. There are more than 14,000 new infections each day. Two more people have AIDS now than did when you started reading. [Source: AIDS and Patent Law] If only we could be as aggressive about fighting AIDS as we are about Bin Laden.
