Blogarithms

Doug Kaye's thoughts on web services, web hosting and managed services.

Tail Gating. Uncle Dave has posted a link to an article about the AA587 crash. Okay, I won't blame Dave. He's just the messenger, but the article is irresponsible crap. The author, Joe Vialls, is a borderline quack. I can tell you from personal experience that the effect of flying through wake turbulence can be much more severe then flying behind the jet blast of the same airplane. Jet blast is non-coherent and dissipates quickly. Wake turbulence is an organized phenomenon and quite persistent. Lots of other ridiculous or unfounded assertions. No wonder, as the page says, "This page is a Mirror of the original at Joe Vialls site that keeps being blocked by Geocities."
